Public bug reported: The update to 3.2.0-39-generic caused freezups in my Xorg sessions (only mouse responding, window blackouts, frozen keyboard). I had to downgrade to 3.2.0-38-generic to get my system stable again (fine for me, but most people won't know how to downgrade safely).
I am using the standard intel driver. The bug is triggered by anything accelerated (Java app/thunderbird/chrome/ etc.) once you are logged in. This seems like a major problem with 12.04 stability, please look into this this urgently since the update came out last night and will probably start affecting a ton of users. The ubuntu forums are starting to report this now. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2127155 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2127138 Here was the sadness in my XOrg log.
