Public bug reported:

If "blank screen" is activated in the power settings, as soon as the
screen is blanked it's impossible to unblank it: the screen stays black,
with the mouse cursor visible. You can even move the mouse cursor, but
the screen stays black.

However, running "DISPLAY=:0.0 gnome-shell --replace" from a console
fixes the problem.
