Failure to update again.
Retried this morning with apt-get update followed by apt-get upgrade.

Result was

You might want to run ‘apt-get -f install’ to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies.
 linux-image-extra-3.8.0-15-generic : Depends: linux-image-3.8.0-15-generic but 
it is not installed
 linux-image-generic : Depends: linux-image-3.8.0-15-generic but it is not 
installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.

solved by doing:

sudo apt-get install linux-image-3.8.0-15-generic
sudo apt-get upgrade
