Same thing here. A few weeks ago I did a normal upgrade and GUI now always hangs with the messages in dmesg the same as those listed in previous posts. drm: i915_hangcheck_elapsed, etc. Ubuntu 12.04 3.2.0-39-generic To have a usuable system I must boot the previous linux version 3.2.0-38-generic.
