I'm testing 3.5.0-28.47 (from proposed) for 3 days now (12.04.2,
ThinkPad X220) and my assessment remains the same as with
3.5.0-27.47~lp1140716:

3.5.0-28.47 doesn't completely eliminate the hangups, but it is a *huge* 
improvement compared to -26 and -27:
- the hangups occur less frequent, around one or two per day
- hangups are not fatal anymore, i.e. system recovers in a short time so that i 
even didn't notice them so far – had to look in the syslog for them
