So, I have a stupid question.  Why in the world is hal polling a cdrom
anyway?  Can't it just listen for open/close events and check the drive
then?  Is the problem that nothing generates these type of events?  I
know people seem to have settled on this being a kernel bug, but could
we perhaps convince hald to play nicer?
