Public bug reported: I just upgraded a netbook system from 12.10 to 13.04, which reports version 3.8.0 for vinagre. Because the netbook screen is small (1024x600), I turn on "scaling" using the button which is labelled "Fits the remote screen into current window size". Once scaling is turned on, screen updates start messing up, particularly updates to the top bar, which tend to be drawn about a dozen pixels too low and about two dozen too far to the right. When switching applications between, say firefox and vinagre, when I return to vinagre, I find vinagre has an entire screen update drawn in this shifted position, which then gets partially updated in the correct position as I drag the mouse pointer across the screen, except for the top bar which continues to get drawn out of place.
When I turn scaling off, the display updates correctly, but of course there are scrolling bars that need to manipulated to see then entire remote screen. I get correct results when using remmina, including for scaled displays. This bug is new to 13.04 - I didn't have this problem in 12.10. The system uses no proprietary display drivers (such as the NVidia or ATI drivers for which Xdamage handling has been a problem in the past) - the netbook has the Intel 945GSE graphics controller.
