Using a pretty much vanilla install of Ubuntu on an Sony Vaio (Intel) laptop, I 
ran the following command under root:
apt-get install virtualbox virtualbox-guest-additions-iso vde2 vde2-cryptcab 
kvm qemu ubuntu-vm-builder uml-utilities
