I have the same problem with webcam "Microsoft LifeCam NX-3000". When I boot raring ringtail with kernel 3.5.0-27 it works fine. But with the actual kernel of raring ringtail (3.8.0-19, package linux - 3.8.0-19.30) it doesn't works. Here the output from /var/log/syslog:
