This was fixed in Ubuntu 12.10 via Debian:

I believe this is a cosmetic failure - that is, it's ugly but it doesn't
cause os-prober or indirectly update-grub to fail - and so I don't at
this point think that we need to backport the fix to 12.04.  If I'm
wrong and it does in fact cause a functional failure, feel free to
reopen this bug.
