It is generally a bad idea to blindly convert rpms to debs via tools like Alien. I've seen several, several people that have seriously screwed up their systems, from apt-get completely breaking to the system refusing to boot due to screwed up permissions. Having this experience, I do not want any more users to suffer through this.
I would go as far as to say that alien should not be made available in Ubuntu at all without some intense warnings of its potential consequences. ** Changed in: gdebi (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- wish: gdebi should call alien to install software from rpms https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/107105 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
