Ha, Sebastien... you will never believe... I found out the problem, the "themes" ! All I had to do was to find themes and make it to "Human"
I cannot possibly imagine why they would put that strange "black" theme on there to start, and - I wonder how many others had this problem like me. Again, I am so new to Linux and I just don't know all I need. Thank you for answering, and I appreciate your kindness...
