I have a branch at lp:~smoser/ubuntu/precise/e2fsprogs/resize2fs_performance/ where I think I cherry picked the fixes, but haven't done much testing yet.
Attaching a cloud-config that can be hopefully used to test this change, by adding the repo and then doing the resize after update/upgrade has occurred. ** Attachment added: "user-data to test" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/e2fsprogs/+bug/1179610/+attachment/3675505/+files/my.ud ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #663237 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=663237 ** Also affects: e2fsprogs (openSUSE) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=663237 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** No longer affects: e2fsprogs (openSUSE) ** Also affects: e2fsprogs (Debian) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=663237 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Changed in: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Also affects: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu Quantal) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu Quantal) Status: New => Fix Released ** Changed in: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu Quantal) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Also affects: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu Precise) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1179610 Title: poor performance of resize2fs on 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/e2fsprogs/+bug/1179610/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
