@Joseph Salisbury I tested with the mainline kernel. As long as I let do not use ldap in hosts property of nsswitch.conf, the kernel boots. If I add ldap, then the system no longer boots. I don't think it is a kernel problem anyway. It guess is some kind of upstart problem.
