Public bug reported:

As the title says my internal microphone is not working (not Skype,
Ubuntu mixer and Google Hangout). I think it did work a while ago but I
am not sure and it must have been some time since I last tried it.

When I raise up the mic boost it just gives me some crackling noise
otherwise I do get no sound at all.

I chose »Internal Mic« in the Ubuntu mixer and also experimented with
alsa-mixer by raising up the several microphone, digital and capture
volumes and disabling »Auto-mute mode« without success.
