I had the same problem with a 2.6.20 kernel on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 server (running on two Intel quadcore 64 bit xeons) running Ubuntu Feisty. I can confirm that the problem disappeared after recompiling the kernel with "Provide RTC interrupt".
