Hi Joseph, In preparation for testing the mainline kernel you suggested, I started by launching a Raring install (using the released 13.04 image with 3.8.0-19.29 kernel). I expected this to bomb at install time, and having to add the kernel parameter as originally reported.
To my surprise, it installed and booted without a hitch, using the nouveau driver. Just to be thorough, I did install the 3.10-rc4-saucy kernel you suggested. This also boots fine and I can reach a usable desktop.
