I’m currently using kernel version 3.8.0-26. Stability has been slightly improving over the past few kernel releases. Spontaneous system freezes decreased from 2-3 per day to once every couple of days over the past few weeks. Shutting down or rebooting the system from Unity has been working again for some time.
