hello as said before, displayconfig-gtk does no longer crash when launched without an existing xorg.conf but returns a blocking message :
GUI : "You need administrative rights to change all screen settings" command : sudo displayconfig-gtk "fallback mode *** Error: no screens were specified in the ServerLayout section" Some configs (mine in particular) accept lo launch gdm/gnome without an xorg.conf, and a newcomer that doesn't want to know how it works would probably be happy if displayconfig-gtk proposed him to create a generic config file (with the open-source drivers available)... note : i don't know how hard it could be to implement such a function and it is far from being a fundamental functionality of the program, but my comment is just a suggestion for future improvements of displayconfig-gtk -- displayconfig-gtk crashes when no xorg.conf present https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116316 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
