Which is essentially the same fix as is attached in comment #3.

As for comment #8, I'd have to look at the problem more closely.
Grzegorz, perhaps you could put together a ppa with your fix such that
others could try out your fix and verify it?  Additionally you might
consider submitting your fix to the procps mainstream.  Getting it into
mainstream would make it a ton easier to get it into Ubuntu.
