This affects me, too. I've got kernel 3.9.4-030904-generic #201305241545 SMP Fri May 24 19:46:00 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux If i plug in anything to USB 2.0 it works fine, but with anything plugged into USB 3.0 ports, it will hang after a few seconds. I've tried this with an itec usb hub, an usb 3.0 external HDD and my usb 2.0 optical mouse, with the same results.
