The system I'm running is Precise 12.04 LTS but I have no Idea what packege it is. It first manifested itslelf running automatic upedate. It hung (with running whirler) for an hour and proceeded no further. Now, many apps apps and utilities installs fail and no update is possible. This is a list of failure msgs returned from Synaptic:
