Thank you for your posting.  After reading your posting I have installed the 
3.10 and now on my Lenovo Q190 I can use WIFI.

The uname -a confirms that I have the correct kernel

uname -a
Linux charles-pc 3.10.0-031000-generic #201306301935 SMP Sun Jun 30 23:36:16 
UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Now, all I need to do is to make this kernel the default boot choice
instead of the 3.10 rc5.  For now I am choosing advanced options at boot
up and then selecting the 3.10 kernel with the WIFI drivers.
