I tested the following i386-kernels
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.10.4-saucy/
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.11-rc3-saucy/
With both kernels I have the same problem. The UMTS stick is mounted as
a mass storage device.
