In my case, it is likely to be related to the java version. Actually, the software I used is still stucked to Java 1.6, and I suspect the issue is solved in 1.7. As Shotwell has this issue before, can you confirm that Shotwell is using Java too?
At least I am trying other java versions and I will see if the issue is stil there.
