it shouldn't be this high though. IF the CPU maxes out like that, it usually indicates a problem of some sort. Try starting firefox from the command line with the --no-sync option and see what happens. You may also want to check to see if you have the right binary for your architecture (i.e. if you're on x86_64, get the corresponding binary). Better yet, compile firefox yourself leaving out anything you don't need.
