Could this be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qt-at-spi/+bug/891681 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/at-spi2-core/+bug/877358 ?
Instead of removing qt-at-spi, can anyone affected try the following: QT_ACCESSIBILITY=0 lyx I can no longer reproduce on 13.04.
