Public bug reported:

In Gutsy the nfs-server will not work correctly. after some minutes the clients
couldn't show any directories or open files on nfs. i muss restart portmap and
nfs-kernel-server on the server to resolve the problem for the next minutes.
in messeges or dmesg i didn't get any error message. netstats show me the ports
are used by service und the process can i find in the process list.

i used amd864-version of gutsy.

/etc/exports
  /media/filer 192.168.10.0/255.255.255.0(rw)

I get an waring by restart the nfs:

exportfs: /etc/exports [1]: Neither 'subtree_check' or 'no_subtree_check'
specified for export "192.168.10.0/255.255.255.0:/media/filer".
  Assuming default behaviour ('no_subtree_check').
NOTE: this default has changed since nfs-utils version 1.0.x
