Looking at it, I see that that package contains indeed rtl8723fw.bin, which went now in the kernel. It's a depressing story. After evaluating the Intel Classmate, I ordered 228 of them. The network adaptor worked in the beginning (before 3.2.0.40), but stopped working before they were distributed under the students.
