I don't know if this helps, but I have just done a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04.02 on a pair of new 2T disks. They are Raid-1 & encrypted. When I get to the screen to unlock the disks, it says, "cryptsetup: evms-activate is not available". I am able to unlock the disks and boot. I have done encrypted installs of 12.04 before, and never saw that warning/alert message.
