Ubuntu 13.04 Intel SSD i7 4770S Using the processor graphics with the default driver.
I got the black screen with a white mouse cursor about a quarter the time on boot and finally discovered the machine wasn't broken/crappy by pressing CTRL-ALT-F1 to see if tty1 would work (previously I would just press reset when the black screen issue came up). I tried the sleep workaround here and have had good results so far (I used a 1 second delay): http://www.webupd8.org/2013/01/ubuntu-lightdm-black-screen-when-using.html Is there some way to detect the error state and present an error message to the user instead of the black screen? A fix would be better but it would be nice if we could at least give a little feedback so users don't assume Ubuntu is broken. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969489 Title: lightdm tries (and fails) to start too early?
