This didn't used to happen. I believe it started with the 3.11 kernel since there is new code in that area. I will try installing 3.10 and some early 3.11 RCs and see where I land. I know where to get the earlier kernel packages (kernel team PPA) but how do I interrupt the boot process to tell ubuntu to run an older release. Everything is masked by the "Ubuntu" logo boot now.
