Public bug reported: Today I've received an update in Ubuntu Saucy (64bit) to grub 2 2.00-18ubuntu2 (currently in proposed) and the upgrade failed with the following error: "grub-probe: error: failed to get canonical path of ."
Downgrading to the previous 2.00-18ubuntu1 version fixes this.
