Thank you for looking into this matter, however, I can faithfully
reproduce the bug as follows:

Restore entire hard disk image to Sept 13th 2013
Test FF 23, everything is fine.
Let Ubuntu install the new updates including FF 24
*The same bug re-appears**_and on more them one machine_.*

I don't know it this applies, but here are the setting in Update Manager
 > Settings > Updates Tab
Checked - Important Security Update
Checked - Recommended updates
UnChecked - Pre-release updates
Checked - Unsupported updates
These were the default settings from a clean install from 12.04.2 LTS
ISO. I always wondered about the "Checked - Unsupported updates", but
found if I unchecked them, updates frequently broke the system and would
have to do a full clean reload from the ISO.

Because these machines are also used for production, I will not install
any more updates time permits.

Thank JTL
