Thank you for looking into this matter, however, I can faithfully reproduce the bug as follows:
Restore entire hard disk image to Sept 13th 2013 Test FF 23, everything is fine. Let Ubuntu install the new updates including FF 24 *The same bug re-appears**_and on more them one machine_.* I don't know it this applies, but here are the setting in Update Manager > Settings > Updates Tab Checked - Important Security Update Checked - Recommended updates UnChecked - Pre-release updates Checked - Unsupported updates These were the default settings from a clean install from 12.04.2 LTS ISO. I always wondered about the "Checked - Unsupported updates", but found if I unchecked them, updates frequently broke the system and would have to do a full clean reload from the ISO.
