Tried suspend and resume again following instructions "resume-trace" debugging
procedure for finding buggy drivers.
using sudo sh -c "sync && echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace && pm-suspend" I
suspended and resumed 3 times in a row and everything resumed properly.
Then I tried normal suspend from menu on desktop and screen again was on but
locked up.Used alt ctrl f1 to get to tty and did dmesg > dmesg.txt
