Most download applications provide some form of "Open containing folder"
for downloads:

Transmission: right click on torrent -> Open containing folder
Firefox download manager: right click on file -> Open containing folder (there 
is also an icon for this)
Chromium downloads: "Open downloads folder" link at the top right corner

I think this is a basic feature expected in most applications with a
download feature, the user shouldn't have to remember or even know where
the application is configured to download files to.
