As mentioned in my comment above, it turned out that the bug needs both Qt 5.1 and QtCreator 2.8. Qt 5.1 was aimed to have in Ubuntu already but because of some regressions on Unity8 on device it was postponed a bit.
If wanted, Qt 5.1 is usable on desktop by adding ppa:canonical- qt5-edgers/qt5-beta-proper and dist-upgrading.
