Hmmm...this is trickier than I thought. :( This "fix" will only work if bash is _invoked_ from within xterm. Calling xterm via launchbar (or what this thing is called) will not apply the change.
Besides, I'm no longer sure whether this was actually the 'vanilla' bashrc here on (new) Lubuntu. The "debian_chroot" looks a bit suspicious :) Probably when importing my essential scripts *and* .*.rc files from my USB drive, I might have overwritten the original .bashrc. However, curiously enough, on my older debian-based system, I used the unmodified .bashrc; I didn't need the explicit "\n", and still, there was always a blank line between command (cat, less, od...) outputs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1239205 Title: bashrc: Please add newline to default PS1 bash prompt To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bash/+bug/1239205/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
