Public bug reported: I encountered a kernel BUG and oops after upgrading to the Raring HWE for Ubuntu 12.04. This is probably related touse of xset dpms force off.
The display completely failed after this oops although the kernel and network stack were still alive. However due to plymouth being in disk wait state I was unable to cleanly reboot my system.
