I tried booting Ubuntu 13.10 from a live session and I'm experiencing
the same problem, so it's not happening just on Kubuntu. Is there any
regression in the kernel? A live 13.04 doesn't show this problem

P.S.: I had a look at the logs, but today there are no such hw csum
failures and none of those lines about skge.

** Summary changed:

- Losing wired connection after upgrading to 13.10 [eth0: hw checksum failure]
+ Losing wired connection after upgrading to 13.10
