This sounds like something not working correctly with multiarch.  Check
/etc/dpkg/dpkg.cfg.d/multiarch to make sure i386 is listed.  if it's
not, run 'sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386'.

Removing sponsors since this doesn't need an upload to fix.
