I had a fully updated Feisty installation to begin with. Because
"update-manager -d" didnt work either with or without sudo, I added
gutsy to the meta-file, explained in Bug #129392. Then i just used
"update-manager -d", and upgraded to 7.10. In this process the
installation of cupsys 1.2.8-0ubuntu8 failed and made update-manager
crash after setting up the last package.

So the last 2 steps (cleaning up, restart) of the upgrade where skipped,
and by starting update-manager again another cupsys version was
installed anyways.
