Before 11.04, I personally couldn't tell because I had a different laptop computer then.
However, this bug has been around a while. In the following duplicate (exact same behavior, with nvidia drivers & openoffice) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/606558 it was reported under 10.04. Even older, in this duplicate (same exact behavior with nvidia drivers & openoffice) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics- drivers-180/+bug/185600, the bug was first reported in January 2008, under what I would guess was Ubuntu 7.10.
