Public bug reported:

I've been trying unsuccessfully to install Ubuntu on my new laptop for
about 3 months now.

When I try to boot Ubuntu (both UEFI and BIOS -legacy- modes) it always
stays on a black screen.

Booting with nomodeset option allows me to get to console pressing
Ctrl+Alt+F1. I tried to install bumblebee and nvidia 319 drivers with no
success.

If I try to manually start the GUI I get the same black screen.

The laptop has a dual graphics card (Intel HD 4600 and Nvidia GeForce
GTX 770M).

I saved Xorg.0.log which says that no screen is available although I
have the laptop and an external monitor connected.
