Public bug reported: I've been trying unsuccessfully to install Ubuntu on my new laptop for about 3 months now.
When I try to boot Ubuntu (both UEFI and BIOS -legacy- modes) it always stays on a black screen. Booting with nomodeset option allows me to get to console pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1. I tried to install bumblebee and nvidia 319 drivers with no success. If I try to manually start the GUI I get the same black screen. The laptop has a dual graphics card (Intel HD 4600 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 770M). I saved Xorg.0.log which says that no screen is available although I have the laptop and an external monitor connected. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247646/+attachment/3899249/+files/Xorg.0.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247646 Title: Unable to boot Ubuntu (12.04 - 13.10) on MSI GT60 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1247646/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
