Public bug reported: Hi,
lighttpd depends on the full perl package even though a dependency on perl-base/ libpcre3 should be enough for the basic functionality. Furthermore the dependency on init-system-helpers and libterm-readline- perl-perl pull in the full perl package again. This is not a major problem on a desktop or server system but on an embedded system the addional 20megs of perl packages (which are not needed otherwise) are an issue. As far as I can see the dependency on init-system-helpers and libterm- readline-perl-perl can be completely dropped and the dependency on perl can be replaced by libpcre3.
