Public bug reported: The default installation of Mediawiki under Ubuntu 13.10 has an issue with the apache.conf. When trying to access the wiki, Apache reports "AH01630: client denied by server configuration: /var/lib/mediawiki/" in the error log.
The Debian bug #723620 fixes the issue in 1:1.19.8+dfsg-2. This fix also has to be included in Ubuntu. What the fix does is to set /etc/mediawiki/apache.conf to grant access to "/var/lib/mediawiki/" with "Require all granted": <Directory /var/lib/mediawiki/> Options +FollowSymLinks AllowOverride All Require all granted </Directory> ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: mediawiki (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-13.20-generic 3.11.6 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-13-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Nov 19 16:09:08 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-08-14 (96 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Release amd64 (20130424) MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: mediawiki UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to saucy on 2013-10-18 (32 days ago) ** Affects: mediawiki Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: mediawiki (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug saucy ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #723620 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=723620 ** Also affects: mediawiki via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=723620 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1252764 Title: Default installation does not work (Apache 2.4 problem) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mediawiki/+bug/1252764/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
