Hendy, Thanks for reporting this! I'm not that familiar with Linux Mint, but it uses it's own repositories, correct? So Mint wont necessarily be in sync with the versions of everything in Ubuntu 13.10? If this is the case, a package built for Ubuntu might not work on Mint without being rebuilt. The Erlang C extensions need to be built against a specific Erlang version, etc.
Anyway, in terms of a complete purge fixing things... was the problem that the upgrade from CouchDB 1.2.0 didn't work correctly?
