Another update, after further testing/several reboots: - halt works, both with HD install and liveCD (I was wrong in my initial description!) - reboot doesn't work, neither with HD nor liveCD of Feisty; it hangs the machine to the point of having to hold the power button pressed for 10 seconds - no key combination (like changing consoles) seems to work, probably because the system is fully shut down (awaiting the system reset which for some reason doesn't happen) - I haven't found any interesting log entries, perhaps because all filesystems are already unmounted when the system hangs
