By accident sitting in front of an Ubuntu 12.10 and tried the default freemind 0.9.0 package from the repositories.
Looks like my patch is not applied but freemind starts fine. Maybe /usr/lib/java-wrappers/java-wrappers.sh has been changed in the meantime or it is due to the fact that this machine here is a very default installation: /usr/bin/java -> /etc/alternatives/java /etc/alternatives/java -> /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-i386/jre/bin/java while my machine has several java versions installed (as part of my work is java development) and this is why maybe freemind's way of finding the correct java installation struggles in the case when multiple java versions are available on the machine (did not investigate the java-wrappers.sh in detail).
