the upstream bug has been closed with this comment "There are two ways to end the game. Either you score a high score or you don't. In the first case the high score list appears so that you my enter your name. Otherwise you get a pop-up telling you that the score did not make the high score. Each of these dialogs have a "new game" button. Even if you did not show a dialog you would still have to click something to start the new game. So I don't understand how not showing the high score is any less of an annoyance.
With regard to having a preference to not show high score at the end of the game I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you. I just don't see the point. If I misunderstood your bug report please reopen it with a more detailed description of the annoyance.
